Datuk Steven Tan is the Group Managing Director/CEO of Star Publications
(M) Bhd. and has held the post since his appointment on 1 February 1986.
He is also a member of the Option and Finance Committees of the Company.
He has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of the newspaper
industry, which include editorial, advertising, marketing, circulation,
production and promotion. Prior to his appointment as Managing Director
of Star Publications, he was a financial journalist and corporate editor.
He had journalism training in the United Kingdom and the United States of
America in 1976 and 1978 respectively. He has served on bodies such as
the Malaysian-Canada Business Council and among his community roles,
Datuk Tan was until recently the Chairman, National Information and Fund
raising Committee of the Malaysian Red Crescent (Red Cross) Society and
currently sits on the University Council of UTAR (Universiti Tunku Abdul
Rahman).
Datuk Tan also serves on the Directorate of Newsplex, a collaborative
research organisation on convergence technology in media, based in the
University of South Carolina. Datuk Tan is also Chairman of Excel
Education Pty Ltd, Australia and Radio Rediffusion Sdn Bhd.

Datuk Ng Poh Tip

Datuk Ng Poh Tip is Group
Editorial/Education Advisor of Star Publications (M) Bhd. She holds a B
A. (Hons) in History from University of Malaya and an M.A. in Political
Studies from the University of Guelph, Canada. She started her career as
a reporter in the New Straits Times (NST) in 1971. Later she became a
feature writer and leader writer. Prior to leaving NST in 1981, she
was Editor, New Straits Times Annual; and Editor, Malaysian Business. She
joined The Star in 1982 as an Associate Editor and was promoted to Deputy
Managing Editor in 1988 and a year later was made the Managing Editor.
She has served as Group Chief Editor since December 1993. She is
currently an honorary board member of the Asia News Network (ANN), of which
she served as chairman in 2000-2001. She is also an Adjunct Faculty
member of the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and president of the
Alumni Convent Light Street (ACLS).

Dr. Lee Kam
Hing

Dr. Lee Kam Hing is Research Editor of
Star Publications (M) Bhd. He holds a B.A. (Hons) and an M.A. in History
from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. After he obtained his PhD in
History from Monash University, Australia, Dr. Lee became lecturer of the
University of Malaya in 1973 and was Professor of History from 1993 until
1997. He later joined The Star as Research Editor. He was Visiting
Scholar at Harvard-Yenching Institute, Harvard University, in 1977. His
published works include The Sultanate of Aceh: Relations with the
British 1760-1824 (Oxford University Press) and Education
and Politics in Indonesia (University of Malaya Press); and
jointly edited The Chinese in Malaysia (Oxford University
Press), Christianity in Malaysia (Pelanduk Publications),
The 1978 General Elections and Malaysian Politics (Oxford
University Press) and The Biographical Dictionary of the Chinese in
Malaysia (Pelanduk Publications).
Director
Datin Linda Ngiam is the current Deputy Group General Manager of Star Publications (M) Bhd. She is also a board member of the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) Malaysia and the vice chairperson of ABC Interaktif .
She has been the general manager and manager in the advertising and marketing departments of various firms. She is actively involved with the Audit Bureau of Circulation, having pioneered various projects within the organisation, which includes the setting up of ABC Malaysia's website.
Datin Ngiam holds a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Malaya as well as a diploma in Advertising and Marketing from the Institue of Communication, Advertising and Marketing (CAM), UK.
