"The Chinese Chambers of Commerce: Dollars, Identities and Politics by Dr. Sikko Visscher" presented by Dr. Sikko Visscher (Asian Studies, University of Amsterdam)

Dr Sikko Visscher, will address the role of the Chinese Chambers of Commerce through the periods of imperial rule, decolonization and nation building, using historical and contemporary case studies and biographies of key Chamber leaders. Dr Visscher's talk will bring the world of the Chinese business community alive, and show how commercial activities, social and cultural identities and political ambitions have been interlinked.

"Doing Business in China: Executive Briefing on Opportunities & Strategies" ~ presented by Dr. Marcus Lee

Dr Lee, an American and a Wall Street trained banker, is an appointed economic advisor to several Chinese Municipal Governments since 2003. Dr Lee hosted 40 episodes of a financial talk show in China with Lotus TV in Shanghai. In Academic, Marcus was invited as EMBA Visiting Professor of Finance to top 30 Business School in United States, China and South East Asia. He recently authored a book called "How to Outsmart China, CEO Guide to China Business". He has spoken at APEC, ASEAN Summit and to several Presidential delegations.

"Confucianism in a Globalising World" by Dr Tu

The lecture titled "Confucianism in a Globalising World" was the first of a series of public lectures jointly organised by University Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) and the Asian Centre for Media Studies (ACMS).

Dr Tu, professor of Chinese History and Philosophy from Harvard University touched on the principles of Confucian humanism, its relevance to modern-day values and the globalised era.
